Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing healthcare company, is seeking a Vice President, Deputy General Counsel to serve as a senior member of the legal leadership team. Reporting directly to the Interim General Counsel, this role will lead and mentor a team of in-house attorneys and paralegals, while partnering with executives and operational leaders across the business. The position offers a broad, high-impact portfolio, spanning corporate governance, litigation management, employment law, commercial transactions, compliance, regulatory matters, and strategic initiatives.
The Vice President, Deputy General Counsel will be instrumental in guiding the company through an exciting growth phase, including expanding manufacturing operations, enhancing compliance frameworks, and supporting a range of corporate and commercial priorities. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires exceptional judgment, collaboration, and business acumen.
Ideal Candidate
- J.D. degree and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Significant leadership experience in both law firm and in-house settings, ideally within healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Demonstrated success leading legal teams and managing complex matters across multiple disciplines.
- Expertise in corporate governance, commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, litigation management, and employment law.
- Skilled communicator able to advise senior executives and boards with clarity and confidence.
- Proven ability to manage both strategic and tactical work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house legal team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Advise the executive leadership team and board on corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Oversee litigation and dispute resolution strategies, managing outside counsel as needed.
- Negotiate and oversee a wide range of commercial agreements, with an emphasis on operational and manufacturing initiatives.
- Ensure the company’s compliance with applicable federal, state, and international laws and regulations.
- Partner cross-functionally to provide pragmatic legal solutions that support business objectives.
This position is primarily remote but will require periodic onsite presence—approximately one week per month or as needed—for leadership meetings and to manage the legal team. The targeted base salary range is $300,000 – $320,000, with total compensation including bonus and equity opportunities.
