Our client, a publicly-traded life sciences/biotechnology company has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist the executives in their search to add a strong life sciences patent attorney to its growing legal department.
The successful candidate will possess 5 - 10 years of patent law experience servicing the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or chemical industries. An undergraduate and advanced degree (masters or PhD level) in the biological sciences (i.e. molecular biology, chemistry/biochemistry) is required. State bar and USPTO registration is also required. Our client will consider law firm associates from top law firms. In house experience is a plus, but not required. Local candidate preferred, but our client will consider and relocate non-local candidates for this position. This attorney will report directly to the Vice President of Intellectual Property.
This attorney will assist in patent portfolio management, prepare and prosecute of U.S. and foreign patent applications, draft and negotiate technology and research agreements and collaborate closely with research and development project teams to identify patentable inventions. S/he will also advise company colleagues on IP best practices.
Intellectual curiosity along with superb communication and prioritization skills are a must. This attorney must also possess a collaborative nature with the ability to work in a team environment. A high EQ is also required.
